All about CAT
The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a computer based test to select candidates for business administration PG & fellowship programs offered by the IIMs and top B Schools in the country. The test scores a candidate on the bases of Quantitative Ability (QA), Verbal Ability (VA) and Reading Comprehension (RC), Data Interpretation (DI) and Logical Reasoning (LR).
The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) started this exam in 1950. The test is conducted every year in November, by one of the IIMs. The shortlisted candidates have to undergo one or more of – the Group Discussion, Writing Assessment and Personal Interview for final selection.

Who should do an MBA?
- Any graduate or a final year student is eligible.
- From any stream – BE/B.Com/BBM/BCA/B.Sc. /BA/BDS/BHM etc.
- Fresher or candidates with work experience can also apply.
- Someone looking for a ‘Career Switch’ in terms of role or industry or both.
- MBA is a ‘People centric’ program and there is no age limit.

When should I start preparing?
- These tests are very different from University exams.
